Unidentified youths tried to set fire to BJP leader and doctor Dr. Tarsem Garg's Vishal Nagar clinic in Bathinda, Punjab, by throwing petrol bombs late on Monday night. The incident created panic in the area, however, the fire was extinguished in time, averting major damage. Senior police officers reached the spot upon receiving information about the incident and began investigation. Police have intensified efforts to identify the culprits by seizing footage from CCTV cameras installed nearby. The case is being investigated keeping in mind personal enmity, political dispute or other possible reasons. It is worth noting that Dr. Tarsem Garg had recently left the Aam Aadmi Party and joined the BJP. His clinic is located opposite the new RSS office.
No reports of injuries
According to reports, two unidentified attackers threw a bottle filled with petrol outside the clinic and fled. The petrol bomb hit the clinic's window, leaving burn marks. A scooter and some plants were damaged in the incident, but no injuries were reported.
Two employees were present.
Dr. Tarsem Garg said that two employees were present in the clinic at the time of the incident. Hearing the explosion, the employees immediately doused the fire and informed him. CCTV footage later confirmed that two young men had thrown the petrol bomb.
Police engaged in investigation
Superintendent of Police (City) Narinder Singh said that several police teams are investigating the case and have uncovered some important clues. A case has been registered against unknown individuals and further action is underway. Police surveillance has also been increased in the area for security reasons.
