British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has resigned from his post. Outside 10 Downing Street, he announced that the Labour Party does not believe he is the right person to lead the party into the next election, and therefore, he is resigning as Prime Minister and party leader. Starmer's leadership has been under constant pressure from his Labour Party, with several MPs and ministers questioning his style of functioning over the past few months.

Pressure was created due to falling popularity

Starmer would be the sixth British prime minister to step down before the end of his term in the last 10 years. Keir Starmer had come under immense pressure due to his party's poor performance and his declining popularity, forcing him to make this decision. 

Britain will get its sixth Prime Minister in seven years.

Andy Burnham is the frontrunner to succeed him. Burnham recently returned to Parliament after winning the Makerfield by-election and is said to have the support of a large section of Labour MPs. Previously, David Cameron, Theresa May, Boris Johnson, Liz Truss, and Rishi Sunak also failed to complete their terms.
